Underworld
I was at work today when the customer I was working with mentioned the movie Underworld. Immediately, I was taken back to the time when Maya and I were in our early stages of dating. We would make long lists of movies to watch, plan out our day to watch them, stay up late because our plan didn't work but we forced it anyway. Then, we would rent the movies late at night and then take them home, start them and then not finish them (lol). It was a fun time in our relationship, although they're all fun times, especially now, but just different segments of fun times. We did this with Austin Powers, Underworld, and even recently, Crooklyn. Probably the oldest title on this list is Vanilla Sky, which I'm still dying to see with her. The part at the beginning with Cameron Diaz is shocking, and a little sad, but still hilarious.

Sleepover
Tonight we're apart after she goes to a rather impromptu sorority sleepover. But what makes it so much better is that the girl hosting the sleepover happens to live two buildings down the street from my apartment! I walk her over, invited in by the warmth of the sisters. The apartment is nice: new plasma, wide open space, clean.. one that I actually considered moving into several weeks ago, but passed because I wanted something different. I don't know what I was thinking. The host was friendly, offered me food, showed me the drinks and had nice conversation. I left, not wanting to intrude on the girls-only affair, and walk through the cool air, warm drizzle tapping the sidewalk. No more than twenty minutes go by before I get a call, "Baby, can we borrow your DVD player??" lol I quickly return to the apartment, my PlayStation in hand. I set up the movie, Bridesmaids, and the host thanks me and offers me another drink. I take the drink, humbly, and stay for a few moments stealing some kisses from my honey. Not wanting to overstay my welcome, I make my way out, my babe giving me one last kiss good night. As I head back through the dripping night air to my apartment, concealing the open drink in my jacket, I hope that I always remember this night.

After the Party
Pitter patter against the umbrella, shielding us from the rain. We walk through the empty parking lot, our shadows cast by approaching headlights. A dim orange hue lights our way, as we leave the sleepy, usually wild, apartment complex.

Festival ISU
Festival ISU was yesterday: We walk happily across the quad, away from the spirited crowds, off to Potbelly’s. She was excited. Inside was a little universe, sheltered from the heat, the commotion. The air conditioning was soothing, the sunlight flowing through the large glass windows. We eat in a booth; my chicken salad salad crispy and delicious, and her toasted salami sandwich warm and melty. Enjoying this brief pause, we sit warmly, loving each other’s company. What a wonderful day, I think now, as I pick at the remains of my salad today.
